An Aria A Day #118

DEBORAH ROGERS
‘Faites-lui mes aveux’
from Faust
by Charles Gounod
Piano Tim Carpenter

3rd September, 2020

From Hamilton, New Zealand Deborah Rogers performs Gounod’s ‘Faites-lui mes aveux’, Siébel’s aria from ‘Faust’.

Deborah participated in Opera Queensland’s Young Artist Program from 2010 to 2012 and chose to perform this lighthearted aria for its triumphant and optimism.

Did you know… in his later years Charles Gounod was good friends with Émile Paladilhe. The friendship resulted in the two men writing songs for each other: the younger composer is the dedicatee of Gounod’s ‘Viens, les gazons sont verts’. American contralto Anastasia Lee performed Paladilhe’s ‘Psyché’ last night for An Aria A Day.
