An Aria A Day #136

LORINA GORE
‘Green finch and linnet bird’
from Sweeney Todd
by Stephen Sondheim
Piano Alex Raineri

21st September, 2020

From Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales soprano Lorina Gore shares Sondheim’s ‘Green Finch and Linnet Bird’, from ‘Sweeney Todd’. Inspired by Christopher Bond’s 1973 play of the same name, Sondheim felt the addition of music would greatly enhance the dramatic tale of the demon baker of Fleet Street. For the performance Lorina is joined by her foster rabbit and pianist Alex Raineri.

Acclaimed Helpmann and Green Room Award winning Australian soprano Lorina Gore completed her postgraduate voice studies at the Australian National University in Canberra and at the National Opera Studio in London.
