from Sea Pictures
by Edward Elgar
Piano Narelle French

26th September, 2020

An Edith Cowan University Graduate, mezzo-soprano Tania Ferris has spent the past eight years as a principal artist with many of Australia’s leading companies. From her home on Queensland’s Gold Coast she performs ‘Where corals lie’ by Sir Edward Elgar for An Aria A Day.

‘Where corals lie’ is a poem by Richard Garnett which was set to music by the English composer Sir Edward Elgar as the fourth song in his song-cycle ‘Sea Pictures’. First published in 1859, the poem was subsequently anthologised in ‘Sea Music’ in 1888.
