An Aria A Day #49
ALEX RAINERI
‘Liebestod’
from 'Tristan und Isolde'
by Richard Wagner
Our first instrumental performance for An Aria A Day, pianist Alex Raineri performs the incredible ‘Liebestod’ from Wagner’s epic ‘Tristan und Isolde’.
Just prior to the lockdown, Alex recently performed for Opera Queensland in recital with Wagner scholar Peter Bassett. For those fortunate enough to be at this performance, you will know we are in for a treat.
This dramatic music fills the final scenes of Wagner’s 1859 operatic masterpiece described by the composer as ‘the most audacious and original work of my life.’ The music is often used in popular film and television productions of doomed lovers.
Opera Queensland are presenting Wagner’s ‘Tristan und Isolde’ at QPAC’s Concert Hall 28 and 31 October. Tickets oq.com.au
Alex Raineri is the Artistic Director of the excellent Brisbane Music Festival, now in its third year and this year happening online. Visit brismusicfestival.com for more information.
