An Aria A Day #51
BRADLEY DALEY
‘Vesti la giubba’
from Pagliacci
by Ruggero Leoncavallo
Piano Narelle French
Bradley Daley performs the much loved ‘Vesti la giubba’ from ‘Pagliacci’, Ruggero Leoncavallo’s only opera that is still performed in opera houses across the world.
‘Vesti la giubba’, or ‘Put on the costume’, is sung when Canio, the clown, discovers his wife’s infidelity just before going on stage to perform. Heartbroken, he has to put his sadness away and prepare as ‘the show must go on’.
In support of emerging artists, Bradley has donated his appearance fee for performing in An Aria A Day to the Freelance Artist Relief Fund. www.freelanceartistrelief.com
