An Aria A Day #53

LOUISE DORSMAN
‘Se tu m’ami, se sospiri’
attr. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi
Piano Narelle French

30th June, 2020

Italian composer Alessandro Parisotti attributed the song ‘Se tu m’ami’ to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. However, scholars now believe that Parisotti composed the piece himself in the late 19th century.

Mezzo-soprano Louise Dorsman performs this somewhat scandalous aria, full of gossip and cheek, prompting her to reminisce on her early career, collaborating with former colleagues.

Louise lives and performs on Yuggera land. We respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Lands across Queensland and pays respect to their ancestors who came before them and to Elders past, present and emerging.
