An Aria A Day #70
CLARISSA FOULCHER
‘Roses of Picardy’
by Haydn Wood
Piano Narelle French
To audiences across the globe, and her cherubic newborn son Jasper Douglas, mezzo-soprano Clarissa Foulcher sings us the tender ‘Roses of Picardy’ by Haydn Wood, with lyrics by Frederick Weatherly – her Dad’s favourite song.
The popular British song, published in London in 1916 by Chappell & Co, was a famous song during the First World War and has been recorded frequently since but we believe this is the first time accompanied by a newborn babe.
