An Aria A Day #73
SAM PIPER
‘Core ‘ngrato’
by Salvatore Cardillo
Queenslander Sam Piper swaps an opera house for his bedroom and the orchestra for his guitar for this beautiful song from Italy. Cardillo’s richly scored and still popular 1911 romance ‘Core ’ngrato’ is also known by its lyric ‘Catarì, Catarì, pecchè me dici sti parole amare’.
Sam Piper performs on Ngarabal land in the Gold Coast Hinterland. Opera Queensland respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Lands across Queensland and pays respect to their ancestors who came before them and to Elders past, present and emerging.
