Emma Matthews and Tommaso Pollio join us from Perth to perform one of the most popular pieces in piano recital.
The piece is from a set of Lieder called ‘Myrthen’, a wedding gift to Clara Wieck, the daughter of Schumann’s long-time piano teacher and mentor.
A message from Emma and Tommaso
As the situation with COVID 19 constantly shifts and weaves its way through our lives, I see my family and friends affected and sick, I see colleagues without work, and the arts bursting through our social media and screens saving us, giving us hope.
More than ever it’s our job as artists to be strong and to give some light and hope to a desperate time. That said, my fellow performers are without performance opportunities and are struggling to keep the Ghost Light lit.
Tommaso and I send you all our love, and hope that this beautiful masterpiece gives you some joy and hope. For our colleagues in Queensland and all over the world, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Stay well, and stay safe.
Emma and Tommaso
