An Aria A Day #85

‘Depuis le jour’
from Louise
by Gustave Charpentier
Piano Narelle French

1st August, 2020

In the shadows of the Sydney Opera House, soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal performs Charpentier’s breath-taking ‘Depuis le jour’ from ‘Louise’. The piece weaves an atmospheric story of working-class life in Paris with the city itself evoked along the way, much like Ayşe does here in the heart of Sydney.

Ayşe performs on Gadigal Land of the Eora Nation. Opera Queensland respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Lands across Queensland and pays respect to their ancestors who came before them and to Elders past, present and emerging.
