An Aria A Day #93

HENRY CHOO
‘La fleur que tu m’avais jetée’
from Carmen
by Georges Bizet
Piano Narelle French

9th August, 2020

With Victorians facing new Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, past Opera Queensland Young Artist Henry Choo performs Don José’s ‘La fleur que tu m’avais jetée’ from the ever-popular ‘Carmen.’

The Flower Song includes emotive lyrics such as “The flower that you had thrown me, I kept with me in prison… I became intoxicated by its fragrance…”, referring to the flower Carmen threw at Don José in Act 1 after singing her Habanera.
