About the role
The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager is a new role within the Opera Queensland Development Team, reporting to the Director of Development. The Development portfolio encompasses philanthropy, corporate partnerships (sponsorship) and the company’s suite of signature engagement events.
The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager is responsible for implementing the company’s philanthropy and sponsorship strategy. Working with potential and existing donors and corporate partners, the role has oversight of a range of activities, including relationship management and assisting in the delivery of a suite of high quality donor events.
The role is part-time, to be delivered over 3 full days per week or at 60% across 5 days. Occasional work on weekends and after hours will be necessary.
The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager understands the importance of philanthropy and how raising significant private income contributes to an organisation’s sustainable future.
You will have experience in fundraising and/or sponsorship and be familiar with Annual Appeal campaigns, Major Gifts programs, Giving Circles and Trusts and Foundations.
You will be experienced in writing applications and comfortable communicating with a broad range of stakeholders.
You will be supported by the Director of Development to use your high-level communication skills to proactively cultivate a pipeline of partners and donors. The targets are achieved by the whole team and never the responsibility of just one person.
We are seeking applicants who love to engage with a diverse group of people and have a vitality for life.
Previous experience with a CRM is desirable but not essential. More importantly you will have the ability to actively contribute to the success of a team, and feel comfortable working autonomously at times. A sense of fun in all that you do is vital.
Celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2021, Opera Queensland enriches the lives of our diverse audience by creating thrilling opera, with exceptional artists and partners, courageously supporting and advancing the art form. Located in the heart of Brisbane’s South Bank cultural precinct, Opera Queensland enjoys creative partnerships with multiple arts organisations, festivals and presenters across and beyond Queensland.
2020 was an unprecedented year that challenged our perceptions of what traditional opera is, what it looks like and how it can be presented. Rethinking how to engage with audiences in a virtual space, our Aria a Day video performances were presented by artists from all over the globe and spread the joy of opera to over 1.5 million people.
