La Cenerentola Costume Display at Brisbane Quarter
Opera Queensland’s La Cenerentola (Cinderella) Iconic Costumes on Public Display 6 May – 1 June 2025
In partnership with Shayher Group, Opera Queensland is proud present an exclusive public display of eight breathtaking costumes from our acclaimed March 2025 production of La Cenerentola (Cinderella). This FREE exhibition runs from 6 May to 1 June 2025, located at Podium 1, Atrium, and offers visitors a rare opportunity to view the extraordinary craftsmanship behind one of Opera Queensland’s most visually stunning operas this year.
Blending fairytale romance with high fashion flair, La Cenerentola’s costumes were created by Opera Queensland designers Karen Cochet and Bianca Bulley. Now, visitors can experience the theatrical magic up close at Brisbane Quarter, including Cinderella’s glittering four-layered ball gown, an extravagant rose-adorned cape, and Don Magnifico’s flamboyant floral suit, inspired by an iconic Alexander McQueen design once worn by Timothée Chalamet.
The display features:
- Cinderella’s (Angelina’s) Ball Gown, a light-as-air masterpiece layered in shimmering tulle and embroidered silk organza.
- Cinderella’s dramatic Transition Coat, created with quilted silk, pagoda sleeves, and hand-appliquéd organza flowers.
- The Stepsisters’ dazzling gowns, complete with sculptural hip silhouettes, corsetry, and over 140 hand-crafted roses.
- Cinderella’s Servant Costume fit with a fully boned period corset and a multi-coloured layered petticoat using over 60m of tulle.
- The bold floral suit and cape of Don Magnifico (Cinderella’s Stepfather), layered with handmade tonal blooms.
- The princely elegance of Don Ramiro (Prince Charming) whose costume is accented with silver and gold floral embroidery.
- The modern fairy godfather, Alidoro, in a sleek purple silk embroidered suit created in collaboration with London and local tailors.
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the theatrical storytelling woven through these garments, each reflecting the fusion of nature, fantasy, and human transformation at the heart of Rossini’s opera.
As part of your visit, enjoy premium dining at Brisbane Quarter’s restaurants, including Brisbane Phoenix, Persone, Phat Boy and Tenya – all located just upstairs from the installation on Podium 2, and elevate your experience with a stay at W Brisbane.
