David Parkin
Biography
Born in Narrabri, Australia. Winner of Operatunity Oz (ABC), a televised competition in 2006, the OFYA Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship 2009, OFYA Vienna State Opera Award 2013 and AOAC Joan Sutherland Award 2015.
For Opera Queensland, David recently performed Fasolt (The Ring Cycle) in the 2023 co-production with Opera Australia, and the role of Sparafucile (Rigoletto) in 2010. Under the baton of Richard Mills, David performed Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande) and Capellio (The Capulets and the Montagues) for Victorian Opera.
For Opera Australia, David has sung more than 40 roles including Sarastro (Magic Flute), Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Ramfis (Aida), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Count Walter (Luisa Miller), Doctor Grenville (La Traviata), Cardinal Brogni (La Juive), Colline (La Bohème), Timur (Turandot), Angelotti (Tosca), Basilio (Barber of Seville), Titurel (Parsifal), and Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor).
David has also appeared with Pinchgut Opera, all Australian state opera companies and with the Melbourne, Queensland, West Australian and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.
