Matthew Broadbent
Biography
Hailing from a musical family in Halifax, Yorkshire, Matthew enjoyed performing on stage from a very early age both singing and acting.
Matthew was awarded a coveted foundation scholarship to study voice at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied for five years specialising in Lieder; Art song and opera.
Whilst based in London, Matthew worked extensively as a soloist throughout Europe and was in regular demand on the Oratorio scene as well as in the Opera circle, including performances at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Royal Albert Hall.
Matthew is celebrating twenty-five years of working with Opera Queensland in many varied roles from Fiorello in the Barber of Seville to Pontius Pilate in the St Matthew Passion.
Matthew has participated in many regional tours with Opera Queensland and enjoys working with the local artists who perform the choruses in the various locations.
