Recital Eastern Promises – Alexandra Flood & Alex Raineri

Event Passed

After their sold-out performance in 2019, supremely talented young Australian duo Alexandra Flood and Alex Raineri return to the Opera Queensland Studio for an evening exploring the influence of middle and far eastern melody on the western classical music tradition.

On this journey they uncover how different composers have approached the female voice and framed female identity – a rich and detailed celebration of the feminine and the virtuosity of the female voice.

The repertoire will move and inspire with arias and art songs performed in five languages – French, Czech, Polish, Russian, English. Eastern Promises will also see the the Brisbane premiere of ‘Water stone (Noguchi)’ from ‘Rise & Fall’ by American composer Jake Heggie.

Featuring music by Debussy, Ravel, Szymanovski, Rachmaninoff, Glanville-Hicks and several others.

In the event a performance is cancelled due to Covid-19, patrons will be offered a full refund.
